Prohibition was enacted with the 18th amendment and it stated that the sale, distribution, and manufacturing of alchohol which made the younger generation want to rebel against the government and they started attending underground bars. These underground bars were called speak-easies, they were speak-easies because when attending they had to keep they're voices down, kind of doesnt make any sense being that everyone was drinking.
The ban on alchohol created a demand for illegal boo's which was created in still like this one in Greenville, South Carolina which opened the door for organized criminals and it gave hillbilly's the opportunity to use their imagination. But in result it also caused the murder of thousands of people that were caught in the crossfire of alchohol related gang warfare in the 1920's.
